
WORLD 2014
The 17th World Basketball Championship for Women was held in Turkey between September 27 and October 5, 2014, under the organization of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the Turkish Basketball Federation.
16 National Teams from 5 Continental Confederations participated, competing for the World Champion Title, whose previous bearer was the United States team, winner of the 2010 World Cup.
The United States National Team was awarded the Gold Medal by defeating the Spanish Team in the final with a score of 64-77, thus achieving Spain its Best Result in these Championships and its 2nd Medal, after the BRONZE of the Previous Edition (2010). In the match for third place, Australia beat Turkey.
The Top Scorer (109 pts.) Was Sancho Lyttle (Spanish Player), and the Championship MVP was Maya Moore (North American Player).
